What if you were forced to follow a pathway that didn't lead you to a good outcome? Some girls are on that path now, but they can right it.

Right Your Story: Empowering girls to own their narrative.

Right Your Story: Empowering Women to Take Control of Their Narrative

Right Your Story is turning the tables now for women whose voices have been overlooked, providing a platform for those who refuse to accept the story that society has written for them. By sharing their journeys with the next generation of girls, these women show that no one else has the power to write their life’s story. This initiative gives a voice to the unheard and helps girls in our communities understand that they alone are the authors of their future.

Why Right Your Story?

Empowering Girls to Rewrite Their Stories: The Need for a Platform

Many women who have overcome significant life challenges lack a platform to share their powerful stories of resilience, healing, and growth. Without this space, their experiences remain untold, missing the opportunity to inspire others. In the absence of authentic narratives, young girls are often exposed to distorted realities and negative portrayals of women on social media, which can lead to a sense of hopelessness and the false belief that their difficult circumstances define their future.

The Right Your Story (RYS) program is designed to empower women and girls within our community, inspiring the next generation to realize their potential and know they have the power to change their lives at any moment.

Through the RYS program, local women bravely share their personal journeys of facing life-altering moments that seemed impossible to change. At first, these women felt trapped by circumstances they didn’t choose—but ultimately, they discovered the inner strength to take back control and rewrite their stories. By sharing these powerful stories of resilience, courage, and transformation, we remind every girl and woman that they, too, hold the power to change the course of their lives—no matter where they start.

Objectives:

  1. Amplify the Voices of Unsung Heroines

    • Give women in the community with powerful, life-changing stories a platform to be heard, to inspire others, and to show the strength that lives within us all. These untold stories of resilience and transformation deserve the spotlight, empowering countless others to realize they can change their own narratives too.

  2. Provide Positive, Accessible Role Models

    • Offer young girls in the community relatable, everyday role models—real women who have faced adversity and come out stronger. These role models are tangible, accessible, and living proof that no matter the obstacles, it’s possible to overcome and thrive.

  3. Create Meaningful Dialogue and Mentorship

    • Establish open communication pathways that encourage story-sharing and deep conversations between women and girls. By connecting across generations, girls can gain the confidence, wisdom, and determination needed to take control of their own lives and rewrite their stories when the time is right.

  4. Foster a Strong, Supportive Community

    • Build a powerful support network where women and girls come together to uplift, mentor, and lean on one another. Through mentoring, partnerships, and authentic friendships, this community will nurture growth, offer guidance, and ensure no one has to face challenges alone.

Origin Story

How Women’s Voices Shaped My Life and Inspired a Movement

Years ago, when my mother passed away, I found myself reflecting on the profound impact she had on my life. She was one of the few women who played a significant role in shaping who I am today. In fact, all the people who influenced me most deeply were women. It wasn’t what they told me to do that left its mark—it was the stories they shared with me. These stories were raw, unfiltered, and filled with authenticity. They may not have realized it at the time, but those moments of vulnerability allowed me to see into their true selves, sparking a shift in how I viewed the world.

The lessons I took from these stories became foundational to my own being. The stories that resonated the most were those where these women faced unimaginable challenges but still persevered. Their courage in the face of adversity, their ability to find meaning even in the darkest times, and their refusal to let their struggles define them left an indelible impression on me. These stories were not just about survival—they were about empowerment, about owning your situation, and transforming it.

For a long time, I simply carried that appreciation with me. But then, I started noticing something disturbing. The stories flooding social media were not ones that inspired growth, resilience, or confidence in young girls. Instead, they were often disempowering, false narratives that shattered girls’ confidence and self-worth. I realized how much damage these stories could do.

Stories are a powerful tool for passing down wisdom, life lessons, and truths across generations. They have the potential to make us immortal, to carry our legacy forward. That’s when I had a thought—what if we could give the women in my community a platform to share their stories, their real experiences, with the girls who desperately need to hear them? No filters, no scripts, no pressure—just raw, authentic storytelling in a safe space where women and girls can connect, learn, and grow together.

This became the foundation of a program where everyday women who have rewritten their life stories can share their journeys with the next generation. The goal is simple: to show these girls that no one can write their story but them. And if their story isn’t going the way they want, they have the power to change it. They can always Right Their Story.

No filters, no scripts, no pressure - just raw, authentic storytelling in a safe space where women and girls can connect, learn, and grow together.
